In January 2000, cocktail waitress Cynthia Jay-Brennan won almost $35 million playing a Megabucks machine at the Desert Inn. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, she was involved in car crash by a drunk driver which left her paralyzed and killed her sister. This started an urban legend/ myth that bad things happen to those who win big Vegas jackpots.
